Santa Clara Man Dies in Vespa Accident
The man was driving on southbound Highway 25 on Tuesday.
Gilroy-Hollister CHP Officers responded to a fatal Vespa crash in San Benito County Tuesday, in which a 66-year-old Santa Clara man died.
At 11:25 a.m., the man was driving a 2012 Vespa 300IE, a motorized scooter, on southbound Highway 25 near La Gloria Road when, according to CHP Officer Erica Elias, "he made an unsafe turning movement and collided with the embankment."
The man was thrown from the Vespa and sustained fatal injuries.

According to Elias, alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash. She said the man was traveling at an unknown speed.
Highway 25 is a 75-mile stretch of road between Gilroy and Highway 198 east of King City.
