On Dec. 6 at approximately 2 p.m., the Gilroy Police Department received a call from St. Louise Regional Hospital regarding a stabbing victim that was transported to the emergency room by a private party.
The victim, a 74-year-old male, was reported to have sustained a stab wound to his torso. Because of the nature of the injury, the victim was transferred to an area trauma center via air ambulance.

Gilroy Police detectives responded to the trauma center and assumed the investigation. Preliminary information revealed that this incident occurred on or near the 100 block of Lewis Street. The motive for this crime is unknown at this time and appears to be a random act of violence. The stab wound sustained by the victim was reported to be non-life threatening by medical personnel.
The suspect is described as a white male adult in his mid to late 20s, with blonde hair. He was last reported to have been wearing dirty, tan clothing.
