Updated: Seven Alleged Members of the Norteños Gang Arrested After Saturday Robbery

Police caught five of the men as they tried to flee in a car; they found two others during the following investigation, according to the report.

Seven alleged members of the Norteños gang were arrested and jailed after the reported invasion and robbery of a local hotel room and its inhabitants on Saturday, according to a press release from the Gilroy Police Department.

"We believe that this is a significant arrest," said Sergeant Chad Gallacinao, department spokesman, "All these people represent active suspected gang members."

Officers chased down and caught five of the men around 1 a.m. Saturday as they tried to drive away from the scene of the alleged robbery at the National 9 Motel on 5530 Monterey Road, police said. The arrests occurred “without incident.”

The other two suspected gang members were arrested during a subsequent investigation for parole violation and selling drugs, according to the report.

Police wrote that the victim, a 22-year-old woman, encountered a man in the hotel parking lot who questioned her about “possible gang affiliation.” Later that night, a group of men gathered at her hotel room door and broke in, stealing property from her and two juvenile family members, police said.
