Sierra LaMar Disappearance Anniversary Plans Revealed

A press conference, balloon release and fundraiser are all planned for March 16.

The one-year anniversary of the disappearance of Morgan Hill teenager Sierra LaMar is set to arrive next week — on March 16.

To commemorate LaMar's life, the LaMar family will hold a press conference at The Sierra LaMar Search Center at 85 Tilton Rd. in Morgan Hill at 9:00 a.m, followed by a ceremonial balloon release.

“I had hoped that this day would never arrive,” Sierra’s father Steve LaMar said. “Thank goodness for the support and generosity of the volunteers and community.”

Later in the afternoon, from 1-5 p.m., a fundraiser called Hope to Find Sierra will be held at Niles Hall, 37270 Niles Blvd. in Fremont featuring live music by Eddie Ramirez and Davina Joy, bounce houses, face painting, hula dancers and a raffle. The event will begin after the day's search for Sierra ends.

“Searching for Sierra has been a long journey,” said her mother Marlene. “The loss and pain have been indescribable.”
