Taco Thief Arrested in Gilroy

Semaj Crump of Oakland attempted to break into Super Taqueria in Gilroy early Monday.

Police responded to an intruder alarm at Super Taqueria in Gilroy early Monday and found a man fleeing on foot when they arrived.

Semaj Crump, 24, of Oakland was arrested a quarter mile from the business (located at 401 E. 10th St.) after running out of a shattered glass door, trying to evade police, Sgt. Pedro Espinoza said.

Crump left behind a bag of burglary tools, but police arrived so quickly that he was not able to take anything from the restaurant.

An older model red GMC Jimmy SUV was also at the scene of the crime, but police do not know if there is any connection between Crump and the vehicle.
