Neighboring businesses were broken into early Monday, each losing valuable property.
At 7:46 a.m., a dirt compactor was stolen from Daleo Inc. at 7190 Forest St. Just over an hour later, at 9 a.m., two radiators were stolen from trucks next door at Trans Valley Transport at 450 E 9th St.
Both burglaries were initiated by someone cutting a large hole in the chain link fence around the perimeters of the properties, Sgt. Pedro Espinoza told Gilroy Patch.
The radiators, valued at $1,500 each, were recovered by police, but the compactor is still outstanding, Espinoza said.
"The investigation looks solid. We have a suspect for the 9th Street incident," Espinoza said, emphasizing that despite the matching fence holes, the two crimes are not deemed connected as of yet.
No arrests have been made, but Espinoza said he expects officers to make contact with a suspect Tuesday.
