Van Plunges Into Creek Bed in DUI Accident

The driver was transported to a Kaiser hospital with minor injuries.

A man charged with driving under the influence of alcohol reportedly drove off of Holsclaw Road and plunged into the dry Llagas creek bed Thursday, according to CHP Officer Birmingham.

The man received a minor injury and was transported to a Kaiser hospital, the officer said.

Firefighters from Gilroy’s Chestnut Station arrived on the scene, near 7240 Holsclaw Rd., at 4:25 p.m. They discovered that the man–and the car– both received minor damage, said Engineer Randy Decker.

One lane of the road was blocked while a driver from Marx Towing climbed down to the van and planned how to remove the vehicle.

“It’s like a puzzle,” the driver said.
