Watsonville Man Dies in Ugly Crash on Hecker Pass

The 44-year-old collided with a tree. The incident is still under investigation.

Gilroy Police were busy late Thursday, responding to a solo vehicle crash on the 2600 block of Hecker Pass that took the life of a 44-year-old Watsonville man.

The driver was found unresponsive after his black compact car collided with a tree, police said. 

Gilroy emergency medical personnel tried to revive the man, but he succumbed to his injured and was pronounced dead on the scene, Sgt. Pedro Espinoza said.

Crews from the Gilroy Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team stayed on scene throughout the night investigating the incident.

The victim's name has not yet been released.
