A 20-year-old woman has passed away after being hit by a train in Morgan Hill last night. Witnesses told Morgan Hill police that the woman was driving down East Central Avenue near Butterfield Boulevard just before the collision, around 9 p.m.

She reportedly drove over a curb, up onto the sidewalk, and eventually onto the railroad tracks. Police say the Union Pacific train was going around 45 mph when it hit her SUV head-on.

Police are still investigating whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision. The woman's identity has not yet been released.
