Candidates to Answer to the Public During Forum this Friday

Twelve candidates for two State Assembly and two State Senate races will be on the hot seat for two and a half hours May 18.

The June 5 primary elections are right around the corner. At My Vote, Our Future, we've been preparing you with information on registration and get-out-the-vote activities, but now it's time to take a closer look at the issues.

Do you know that candidates for two State Assembly races and two State Senate races within Santa Clara County will be featured in a candidate's Q&A forum on Friday, May 18? The focus will be education funding, both K-12 and higher education.

During the event, you can find out just what's at stake in this year's election. Will these people be able to solve school funding, local safety and other community issues that get voted on in Sacramento? What are their qualifications and values? What is their experience?

For those stopping by after work, a light reception and opportunity to mingle with candidates informally beforehand, as well as a chat with League of Women Voters and volunteers from Parents for Great Education and other co-sponsoring groups will take place from 6:30 to 7 p.m., with the next two and half hours devoted to community members' questions.

The candidates' forum will be held at the Cupertino Community Hall, located at 10350 Torre Avenue in Cupertino.
