City Releases How-To Guide For Donating To New Takko-Machi Trust Fund

The donations would become part of a special trust fund approved last month.

The city of Gilroy has posted a how-to for people interested in donating to the special trust fund for their Japanese sister city, Takko-Machi.

While many have donated to the Red Cross to help with broader relief after a magnitude-8.9 earthquake rocked Japan in March, money in the new trust would go directly to the mountainous sister city.

Takko-Machi avoided much of the severe damage felt on Japan's coast, but the city is embarking on its own aid efforts for its hard-hit neighbors.

A fund has been set up to receive donations for disaster relief for Gilroy’s sister city of Takko Machi, Japan. Donations may be made payable to the City of Gilroy. Note in the memo for Takko-Machi Relief. Bring it in or mail to the Finance Department at Gilroy City Hall, 7351 Rosanna Street, and the donations will be deposited to the appropriate account.
