Discuss Local Issues During "Coffee with the Mayor"

"Coffee with the Mayor" sessions give residents a chance to talk about the city issues they feel are important.

Each month, residents have an opportunity to have “Coffee with the Mayor,” where they can discuss any issues of local interest in an informal setting.

Mayor Al Pinheiro said he has been holding these information sessions for the last two years in attempts to better engage the community by allowing them to voice what they believe the city should be focusing on.

“It’s a way for people to come talk to me one-on-one in a laid back atmosphere. I get a chance to hear about the different subject matter that some of our citizens would like to focus on, or that they may have an opinion about,” he said.

Pinheiro added that these informal discussion sessions are also beneficial because they give community members the chance to have a discussion with one another about topical issues.

“What’s interesting about it also is that you might sit at the table and ask a question about something, but other folks at times engage in the conversation,” he said. “So other citizens also get involved in the dialogue.”

Saturday, Jan. 21 will be the next Coffee with the Mayor gathering. These sessions are held at 9:30 a.m. at City Hall, located at 7351 Rosanna St.
