Facing Massive Cuts, Caltrain Will Hold Public Meeting in Gilroy Tonight

With a projected $30 million budget gap, Caltrain's board of directors may vote to stop service to Gilroy in July.

Caltrain will hold a public meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna St., to discuss a $30 million budget gap and major cuts to service that are possible.

The proposed cuts include eliminating service south of San Jose entirely—including Gilroy.

Ridership at the Gilroy station has been in gradual decline for the past 10 years, but Caltrain remains part of the city's long-term plans for growth.
