Holocaust Survivor's Son from Morgan Hill Honored by Luis Alejo

Jonathan Randall Toch is the son and grandson of Holocaust survivors.

With April 7-14 proclaimed California Holocaust Memorial Week, Assemblymember Luis Alejo, whose district includes Gilroy, decided to spotlight Morgan Hill resident Jonathan Randall Toch.

“This year, I honor Jonathan Randall Toch, whose grandfather and father were able to escape with the help of a kind stranger who took a chance and sponsor his family to come to the United States,” said Alejo. “I am proud to participate in this event and co-author Assembly Concurrent Resolution ACR 33, recognizing Holocaust Remembrance Week.”

Each assemblymember selects a Holocaust survivor, liberator or child of a survivor from his or her district to bring to Sacramento as part of the remembrance week.

“We must first honor the memory of Holocaust victims by countering indifference with vigilance and apathy with action,” said Alejo.

ACR 33 passed the California State Assembly with a vote of 76-0.  The resolution will next be sent to the California State Senate Committee on Rules for consideration.
