Who does the most to promote peace in Gilroy? Your nominee could win a big award on Aug. 6.

Assemblymember Luis Alejo is looking for a the resident of the 30th District, which includes Gilroy, to give the 2013 California Peace Award.

Nominees should have, over ht past year, contributed to peace in the community, have a strong volunteering record and have remarkable accomplishments in creating a safe environment.

Given Gilroy's ugly track record with gang violence in the first half of 2013, there are certainly people to nominate who have stepped up to help the city return to form.
