Binational Health Week Conference: Decreasing Latino Health Disparities

This conference is intended to foster understanding of the special psychological, health education, and health care needs of Latino immigrants.  Presentations include:  "Health Inequities in Santa Clara County" by David Hill, Sr. Health Policy Advisor for the County Public Health Dept.; "The Unspoken Challenge:  Inequality in America" by Joseph McIntyre, President of Ag Innovations Network; "Understanding Systemic Change" by Kathleen Roe, Chair of the Dept. of Health Sciences at SJSU; "Poverty:  A Holistic Vision as Strategy for Systemic Change" by Sister Rachela Silvestri, Director of Community Health at Saint Louise Regional Hospital; "Urban Gardens" by Raul Lozano, Executive Director, Mesa Verde; "Organizational Change:  The Health Benefits for Latinos" by Amanda Reedy, Division Director, County Public Health Dept; "Transforming Schools in Alum Rock" by Matt Hammer, Executive Director of PACT; "Expanded Eligibility Under Health Care Reform:  Do Latinos Qualify?" by Lorena Madrid, Program Manager, Community Health Partnership.  Continuing Education Units are available for Nurse, Registered Dietitian, MFT/LCSW, and Health Educator.

Santa Clara County Binational Health Week Conference is coordinated by the South County Collaborative in partnership with the Santa Clara County Public Health Department.
