Speak Up: Who is the Best Teacher in Gilroy?

In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Day, we asked fans of the Gilroy Patch Facebook page the following question: Who is the best teacher you ever had? And who is the best teacher in Gilroy?

Celia: The BEST teacher, well, she wasn't my teacher but both of my daughters had her for 1st grade. MS MCGLASHEN AT ANTONIO DEL BUONO!!!! Kind, loving, encourages thinking and problem solving. And Ms Cathy at ADB Champions!!! She is amazing after school program instructor. The kids love, love, love her. She really enjoys what she does and it shows.

Nadia: Mrs. Mesa at Rod Kelley Elementary! Mrs. Mesa gives parents and children faith in the public school system again. She teaches and has fun, patience, and still loves her job... Even as a 20 year veteran!

Trish: Joan Miller and Debbie Sue Ellis are amazing teachers at St Mary School and Michelle Baxter runs a wonderful preschool. Our kids are very lucky to have such wonderful teachers!!!

Sergio: Mrs. Jolly! The assistant principal at Christopher High School! 

Mary Ann: There are so many great teachers in Gilroy!! Patti Littlejohn, Roberta Bertero (retired) Janice Kranbuhl (retired), Rick Charvet, Marina Campos, Joanne Orsetti (retired) Marlene Manzo, Cristal Kledar, Teddy Goodrich, Carol Alcock, Cynthia Gonzalez, Curt Hentschke, Sandy Marshall (retired). We have been blessed with young and more experienced educators in Gilroy. They give their A game each and every day! Past, Present and future students are in good hands! Happy Teacher's Day to all our wonderful teachers and those that support them.

Laura: Rhonda Spencer is a great teacher! She is my daughters Kindergarten teacher at Antonio Del Buono! She always has a smile and the kids smile along with her! You rock Mrs. Spencer!!!!

Carrie: My kids had super teachers at Las Animas. Teri Hinmon and Molly Leach go above and beyond their job as teachers. Las Animas is extremely lucky to have them on their staff.

Maria: There has not been a better teacher in Gilroy Since Mr. Paymon Zarghami. Everyone should learn by his example.
