Gilroy Boxer Fighting Floyd Mayweather on Showtime

Robert Guerrero will fight the world's best boxer in May.

Gilroy-raised Robert "Ghost" Guerrero is far past the rising star portion of his boxing career. He is a full-blown pro at this point.

In May, his resume will even include a fight against the world's biggest boxing star, Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather announced a new deal with Showtime on Tuesday, which will broadcast the fight against Guerrero, according to ESPN. His deal with HBO recently expired, after the company hosted Mayweather's fights for nearly his entire career.

The bout between Gilroy's Guerrero and Mayweather is set for May 4 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Guerrero, will look to hand Mayweather his first career loss. Mayweather is currently 43-0 with 26 knockouts. Guerrero, meanwhile is 31-1-1 with 18 knockouts.

Mayweather has not fought since last May, while Guerrero defeated Andre Berto in November. Two months of Mayweather's hiatus were spent in jail related to a domestic violence charge involving the mother of his three children.
