Guerrero to Officially Announce Fight Against Aydin Thursday

After months of waiting for a formal statement, Robert Guerrero will officially announce his July 28 fight against Aydin Selcuk at the HP Pavilion during a press conference Thursday morning. 

Although Guerrero is officially announcing his July 28 fight today, the  so Gilroyans could purchase tickets for the anticipated fight earlier. Over $10,000 worth of tickets were sold at the event. 

Guerrero, a former Three-Division World Champion and Gilroy native, will face unbeaten power puncher Selcuk "Mini Tyson" Aydin for the vacant WBC Interim Welterweight World Championship in a fight to be televised live on Showtime, which will mark Guerrero's return to the ring following an injury-plagued 2011 campaign.

The Showtime Championship boxing telecast will air live at 10 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast) with co-featured events and preliminary fights to air live at 8 p.m.
