Gilroy is prepping to welcome home Robert "Ghost" Guerrero — the local boxing legend who took on Floyd Mayweather, Jr. earlier this month.

Guerrero grew up and still lives and trains in Gilroy. For his dedication to his hometown, Gilroy has dubbed May 18 Robert "Ghost" Guerrero Day and will celebrate with a day packed with events.

The celebration will take place in downtown Gilroy with Monterey Street from 4th-7th streets blocked off. The grandstand will be located at 5th and Monterey with a boxing ring serving as a main stage.

The Mercury News originally reported that Santana would be performing at the event. But according to organizer Rebeca Armendariz, that information was falsely provided.

However, Carlos Santana's brother Jorge, is set to perform with his band Sapo.
