Gavilan Summer Camp Courses Feed Kids' Experimental Interests

If your kids have spent more time in front of the TV than outside this summer, then try switching things up by getting them involved in a youth summer program.

Gavilan College is offering numerous "College for Youth" programs beginning next week. 

The College for Youth programs include week-long classes in fields like science, animation and comedy. The youth camps currently offered include programs like Cool Career Camp, Crazy Coaster Science, Chemical Magic and Designers Vehicle Challenge.

Kids between the ages of 5 and 15 years old can participate in a half-day camp or full-day one. Prices vary between $49 and 279. To register go to http://www.gavilance.com or call (408) 852 -2801.

MEDIA/TECH ARTS:

• Amazing Anime-tion! For ages 8 through 12. 7/16-19, Mon-Thurs, 9 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. $199

• Comic World Sketch Comedy. For ages 8 through 12. 7/16-19, Mon-Thurs, 1 to 4:30 p.m. $199

SCIENCE:

• Crazy Coaster Science & Sea-fari Park. For ages 5 through 11. 7/23-26, Mon-Thurs, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Register directly at www.destinationscience.org)   $279, discount may be available.

• Chemical Magic - Magical Microscopes - Rocks & Minerals. For ages 6 through 11. 7/16-19, Mon-Thurs from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. $199

• Designer’s Vehicle Challenge: Hover Craft, Vehicle & Egg Drop Car. For ages 6 through 11. 7/16-19, Mon-Thurs from 1:15 to 5 p.m. $199
