Enjoy Mount Madonna County Park Before the Tourists Do
A recent San Francisco Chronicle article revealed the secret of Mount Madonna County Park to all of Northern California.
San Fransisco residents are coveting a day in the redwoods after a San Francisco Chronicle article last weekend extolled the virtues of visiting Mount Madonna County Park.
The 3,688-acre park at the summit of Highway 152 is crisscrossed with hiking trails — some of which are dog friendly—and is just 10 miles from Watsonville.
And the park isn't the only pleasant stop on Highway 152, also known as Hecker Pass Road. Be sure to pull into the parking lot at to take in a view of the Monterey Bay. Then, between Mount Madonna and Gilroy, there are wineries and a farmstand that sells local honey.
