Gilroy Homeless Shelter Extends Hours During Bad Weather

The National Guard Armory will remain open three hours later on Saturday and Sunday.

The Gilroy National Guard Armory, the city's main shelter for the homeless, will remain open three hours later on Saturday and Sunday to help residents cope with the intense rain, according to a Santa Clara County press release.

The shelter, at 8940 Wren Ave., will be open from 6 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday, and 6 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday.

Meteorologists expect temperatures to be in the low 30s over the weekend, at sea level.

The Gilroy shelter will join the National Guard armory in Sunnyvale in offering extended hours, according to the information.

Hours will return to normal (6 p.m. to 6 a.m.) after the weekend, unless the weather becomes extreme.
