Community Solutions is hosting their annual Sexual Assault, Intimate Partner Abuse, and Human Trafficking Volunteer Advocate training beginning July 9.

This four-week, extensive training allows community members to obtain the training needed to become a certified Sexual Assault and Intimate Partner Abuse Advocate. Trained advocates will be able to provide prevention, education and outreach presentations; assist with legal advocacy and court accompaniment; provide peer support to survivors at our confidential shelter and crisis line support; provide in person responses for survivors in crisis; and support at our Morgan Hill and Hollister offices.

“Our training provides a comprehensive and collaborative look at sexual assault, intimate partner abuse, and human trafficking. It helps to provide a framework and understanding into the complexities of these violent crimes. We are committed to training our community members in efforts to raise awareness andtrain knowledgeable and compassionate volunteers,” said Erica Elliott, Sexual Assault Program Manager at Community Solutions.

Trainings will take place July 9 - Aug. 8 on Tuesday evenings (5:30 - 9:30 p.m.), Thursday evenings (5:30 - 9:30 p.m.) and Saturdays (8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.). Training is free with a commitment of 100 volunteer hours within a year. Those interested in applying should contact Erica Elliott, Sexual Assault and Prevention Service Manager for Community Solutions’ Solutions to Violence Department, at (408) 776-6246 or ericae@communitysolutions.org.
