Where is the data on Christopher High?
Jim Shuster April 24, 2013 at 06:01 pm
I looked at this data_____It seems to be old, at least 3 years old. It shows Christopher only havingRead More 9-10 grades and no data (N/A). We've already had 1 graduating class from Christopher in 2012. T.J. Owens is basically a school that you have to qualify to get in so I would expect them to have a very high API.

how did Anchor Point or Christopher fail out?

When selecting the Wi-Fi technology used - take a look at the channel blanket technology - perfectRead More to schools. www.extricom.com

WOW - I don't know who is quoting that but that seems to be at least 10x too high. I'll do it forRead More half that price!

I find it interesting that the School Board is actually censoring content. Years ago the CountyRead More Library System fought tooth and nail against filters citing the American Library Association bill of rights that all ate rials should be available to all persons regardless of age. Gilroy's own Lani Yoshimura was in the forefront to allow children to view porn.

There are plenty of free options that one can go for. I use Qustodio which has features that beatRead More even the paid apps out there. It's free and you can block sites with minimum manual intervention. It also has a great reporting feature allowing you to view data for the last 30 days and I can actually watch the profile pictures of people with whom my teenager son chats with on Facebook. Just Google for it.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Pott Family. This tragedy should not be repeated. Please letRead More us as a society teach our boys, in our homes and our schools, to RESPECT women...! Let's make the boundaries of respectful behavior just incredibly clear to all young men, and tell them in no uncertain terms that an incapacitated woman is NOT an invitation for a sexual opportunity.
Kell April 22, 2013 at 03:24 pm
I pray that neither of them ever has any children!!
Kell April 22, 2013 at 03:22 pm
Uncalled for and unacceptable. Disgusting!
jgonzalez April 21, 2013 at 09:44 pm
well the parent of high school age girls have the right to know if their daughter is attendingRead More classes with someone who could possibly harm them.it's true your comment about compassion ,if the young man did do what he is accused of he did'nt show much compassion for miss pott ands that's probably why he's not very successful now.

If a crime was committed when she was 15, the statute of limitations may not have run out and it mayRead More still be proscutable.

Great job Pharoah and GPD. What a low life you have to be to commit burglary. A school is justRead More about the lowest of the low, one rung up from stealing from a church or charity. Guys, turn your lives around now, while you still have lives to live.
Kell March 13, 2013 at 07:45 pm
As a parent this is disgusting and so scary. These kinds of stories make me want to quit working soRead More I can stay home with my kids. I hope this woman is sent away for a VERY long time. Thank goodness none of the children died or overdosed! Brings me to question how she got away with this.....was no one watching her!?!
Tamra~Kathleen March 13, 2013 at 12:46 pm

We went to the Petaluma pumpkin festival. They placed the same cowboy hat on each child for photosRead More of them seated on a pony. I almost called the health dept.

Actually, the lice shampoo didn't work for us at all, but this worked great, and was much less toxicRead More than the shampoo option: http://www.nuvoforheadlice.com Also, our school said my son could go back to school as soon as he was treated, and they did not check for nits, nor do they have a no nits policy.

Its an interesting idea. Now, though, who is going to pay for all the computers needed for theseRead More tests? To make the test fair, each student will have to take them at the same time. Where will the schools put them? Who will pay for IT staff to make sure they are operating properly? Who will pay the insurance for the computers, and for the extra electricity needed at each school site? Where are the facts behind the ability to implement this new plan? This plan needs more details explained.

Not only that, but CST participation rate is a metric for AYP, so a school that falls below the 95%Read More threshold will not make AYP (not that that matters anymore, nor that it ever mattered for non-title1 schools like SM). I would expect ongoing district assessments are used more than CSTs for placement for intervention given that there are more of them and they are more closely aligned with what is going on the classroom. If its true that schools are using CST results for individual intervention decisions, then I think parents should know that (and realize its probably a bad idea). Your school site council should have info on that since its job is to monitor things like that. In any case, anyone who wants to opt out should also ask their child. They should have a say in the matter.
Louis Educe January 10, 2013 at 12:07 pm
Gail Ann, while you are correct on the parent opt out right please make sure and tell parents to askRead More the school/district what the STAR scores are used for with in the disrtict/school/grage-level. if the child is in the middle grades (7th and 8th are most important) these scores are used to make placement choices for high school courses. Many HS counselors will NOT look very closely at grades (A,Bs) because of the fear of grade inflation - unless you can make sure you child also have some non-biased, standardized (normed) test data their placement choices might be limited. If your child is a high performer you can have them start taking the PSAT in 8th grade (but they will be compared to 10th grade standards). At the lower grade levels the CST data is used to also make placement choices into intervention as well as higher level instructional clusters. Be well aware of the implications of withdrawing your child from the testing before you just exercise you right to "make a point"
