Golden Tickets Allow Gilroy Residents to Ride for Free

The second annual Gilroy resident's day at Gilroy Gardens is Saturday, March 26 from 10am to 6pm. Anyone with a golden ticket and proof of Gilroy residency can enjoy all the park's rides at no cost.

The hottest ticket in town this weekend is golden. Each golden ticket allows up to six people into Gilroy Gardens for free on one day only--resident's day, March 26, 2011. Gilroy Gardens enclosed a single golden ticket in every February water bill mailed to a Gilroy residence. All rides and attractions in the park are free and the golden ticket even covers the parking fees.

Gilroy Gardens' Marketing and Admissions Manager Daniel Martinez said that last year more than 5,700 people attended resident's day at the park. Asked if the threat of showers might reduce the number of people who attend, Martinez said, "Due to an 80 percent chance of rain, we are expecting close to 2,000 in the park."

A special buffet lunch will be offered in the park. The cost of the buffet will be $12 for anyone eleven years old and up and $8 for children from three to ten years old. All proceeds from the buffet lunch go to the Gilroy Gardens Education Program, which helps South Bay schools with science exhibits.

Resident's day is a private event. The park is closed except to Gilroy residents who can show proof of residency in either the 95020 or 95021 zip code.

Although this will be the only free day for Gilroy residents in 2011, the park will offer promotions periodically that allow Gilroy residents into the park for only $10 admission, according to Martinez.
